The Mission is in need of a tractor. It needs to be at least 40 hp with a front-end loader and be in good working condition. We have a 6’ brush hog it will
need to be able to operate. If anyone knows where we might be able to obtain a tractor at a reasonable price please let us know.
Keep in mind that donations of equipment to the Mission are tax-deductible.
Current Mission Projects
You may want to get involved!
We have several projects that we invite you, your church, your clubs and your friends to partner with us on completing. Some big, some small, we are sure you can find just that thing that you shine in. Not everyone can paint, not everyone can build. Maybe your blessed with being a Cook, a cleaner, a post hole digger, maybe your calling is being a sheet-rock finisher. Maybe your a group of one. We can use your skills, and can match you up with other groups of one. Help build God's kingdom by being a volunteer on earth and helping us create a place to reach the hearts and lives of those needing Christ in their lives. See if one of the projects below is calling your name, or contact Artie at Volunteers@kiamichimission.org
Old Church Given New Life
The building above is the original Church building for Christ’s Church at County Line. It was moved to Christ’s 40 Acres many years ago. It has been adopted by Antioch Christian Church of Olney, Illinois. They have recently installed electricity and a restroom with a shower. They are donating the labor and materials for this project. Many thanks to this congregation and their preacher, Bro. Mike Baker.
The building pictured above is a guest cabin used for singers & speakers during events here. We call it the “Lads” cabin because it is where they stay during the Clinic. It is beautifully finished on the inside with 4 twin beds and a full bath. It needs the outside finished and a deck and new stairs. Could you, or your Sunday School Class, or other group take this on as a project? I hope you will consider it.
This duplex has beautiful accomodations for our speakers and singers on the inside but getting to it in the dark is a real “ankle twister.” It needs a small deck, walkway, and parking area. This would be a great small project for a smaller church or group.
Future Outdoor Kitchen
The concrete slab, pictured above, is going to be built into an “Outdoor Kitchen” for fryers, roasters, and smokers. Some funds have been donated for this project but more is needed to build it. There is a committment from a group in Kentucky to have this built by the Men’s Clinic of 2014. There is also a person who has committed to cook in this outdoor kitchen during the Men’s Clinic. So, you know what that means . . . You got it! The FISH FRY IS BACK ON! Yahoo!! Would you be willing to make a special donation beyond your regular giving to help us complete this project? Around $4,300 is needed. I always loved the Thursday night fish fry. I can almost smell that catfish cookin’ right now. We will be using propane fryers instead of kettles and open fire like Bro. Debault used to do, and there may not be any “chitlins” but there will be fried catfish! Volunteers are also needed to help cook during the Clinic.
Some called it the BARN, others called it the GYMNASIUM. Now we call it the “BARNASIUM.” No matter what you call it, it is the bigest “EYE-SORE” at Christ’s 40 Acres. After weeks of hard work we have made a dent in the mess on the inside and cleared much of the brush around the outside. The plan is to build maintenence shops in the front third of the building and a basketball court in the back two-thirds, thus, “The Barnasium.” Your ideas, help, and support are needed and welcome.
The Old Post Office!
The old Post Office would be another great project for a small group. It needs a few logs replaced, boards replaced, paint, and some other work.
Steel Tent Renovation
“We got this!” said Mike Baker and crew. This picture does not do this justice. The stage and sound booth have been funded. About $10,000 is available for the roof. Keep praying, & giving.
